Texas Competitive Market Bringing Better Prices Compared With Key States

Texas’ electric price offers compare favorably to the states we compete with to attract and retain business. In fact, Texas residential price offers in the competitive electric market that are lower than those of the average price in other large states, as well as states that, like Texas, rely heavily on natural gas to generate electricity.

Prices Continue to Fall

The data above compares December 2009 prices because it’s the latest available for most states; however, the average 1-year fixed price offer in the Texas competitive market continues to fall. As of April 12, the lowest competitive offer for residential customers ranges from 7.9 to 9.2¢/kWh, depending on region, while the average 12-month-locked price offer ranges from 10.4 to 11.6¢/kWh.
