FWST: Electric rates down in Texas’ deregulated market

Electric rates are looking increasingly good for residential customers in Texas’ deregulated market, as both variable and fixed rates have dropped significantly from a year ago and there is expected to be ample power to meet peak summer demand.

On Wednesday, the powertochoose.org website operated by the Texas Public Utility Commission showed that retail electric providers were offering 92 variable and fixed rates below 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, compared to only eight offers below 10 cents when the Star-Telegram reported on rates in mid-May last year.
